Hallelujah

Wait, don't hang up. I know you're sick of this song already.

Sooner or later the madness will stop and everybody will forget (please god) how Simon Cowell tried to kill Jeff Buckley all over again. Alexandra will go and make lots of nice records with Beyonce (or whatever) and we can all relax again.

In the meantime I am grateful to the X-Factor for this one thing; yesterday I walked into the kitchen at my Mother-in-Law's house to find Ian and her poring over the printed out lyrics of the song- Ian explaining his interpretation at his mother's request.

I think that will be my Advent moment this year. Bring it on.

Happy Christmas everyone (and thanks to Paul for the call to blogship).

I am feeling like almost the only person who didn't see the X-Factor, and admit to not having the slightest interest in it while it was on - but now feel as if I missed out on something!! :)

It certainly has stimulated discussion, so can't be all bad..

Happy Christmas to you and your family, Katie, x

good to see you back, I missed you too

Shirley....Leonard's on tour right now....perhaps he will head your way. He is a well loved poet, artist and performer in this household....Hallelujah is a stunningly beautiful song...and I love the fact that it has become the top Christmas song this year. it even hit our news.

If you want to hear another version......k.d. Lang.....she has a beautiful voice. Her CD, "Songs from the 49th Parallel" is a compilation of her favourite Canadian songs....Cohen's Hallelujah soars out of it.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.....especially you wee little geg. May Rover Save Christmas again and bring us all new wind up toys.

agree with dana re the 49th parallel...

but buckley and rufus do it for me - am having the same reaction to whatsherface from x factor that i do when o little town of bethlehem is sung - i walk out of the room (or church as i have done twice now!)

take it easy this christmas, but take it....

thanks all. i have been ill over christmas but starting to pick up now. awareness, cohen has been here this year already. didn't manage to catch him (mainly because i'm not a milionaire! lol. i saw tom waits this year which will be the last 'big' gig for quite some time i imagine). apparently it was quite a show! the wee geg had a great christmas. she told me the other day she is a 'wiggly geg'. pretty soon we'll have our own language...
